Matic Building Services is proud to celebrate the completion of Fusion Manchester, a landmark 509-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme on Deansgate, delivered by Domis Construction for Fusion Students.

The handover marks a major milestone for the wider project team and a proud moment for Matic, following a full MEP delivery across one of Manchester’s most recognisable city-centre student developments.

Located at the gateway to Deansgate, Fusion Manchester has been designed to deliver far more than student rooms. The scheme brings together high-quality accommodation, premium shared amenities and carefully integrated building systems to support comfort, safety, sustainability and day-to-day performance for future residents.

Full MEP delivery for a premium student living environment

Matic’s role across Fusion Manchester covered the mechanical, electrical, public health and life safety infrastructure needed to support a busy, high-performing PBSA development.

Working closely with NOVO, Domis Group’s MEP design consultancy, Matic delivered services across the student accommodation, amenity spaces and wider building infrastructure, helping bring the scheme through to successful completion.

The mechanical and public health scope included above-ground drainage, domestic hot and cold water services, LTHW systems, HVAC, student room ventilation, air conditioning and smoke extraction systems. These installations are critical to the day-to-day comfort and operational efficiency of the building, supporting both private student rooms and shared amenity areas.

Matic also delivered full electrical works across the development, including LV distribution, containment, internal and external lighting, data infrastructure, access control, intercoms, CCTV, fire alarms and essential life safety supplies.

Fire, security and life safety systems at Fusion Manchester

Life safety was a key part of Matic’s coordinated delivery at Fusion Manchester.

The project required carefully integrated fire and security systems to support a safe, compliant and resilient student living environment. Matic’s scope included smoke control ventilation, life safety and essential power supplies, standby generation, life safety switchboards and automatic transfer systems.

These systems help ensure critical infrastructure remains operational when needed most, including power resilience for smoke extract systems, firefighting lifts and fire pumps. Fully coordinated within the wider MEP installation, the fire and security works support resident safety across the building’s bedrooms, shared spaces, commercial areas and amenity offer.

Supporting a landmark city-centre completion

Delivered on a tight city-centre site, Fusion Manchester required detailed planning, efficient coordination and close collaboration across every stage of the programme.

For Matic, the completion reflects the strength of integrated Group delivery, with Domis Construction, NOVO, Domis Utilities, Wright Landscapes and Casana Interiors each contributing specialist expertise to bring the project to life.

From early construction support through to final MEP installation, life safety systems and commissioning, Fusion Manchester stands as a strong example of Matic’s ability to deliver complex building services at scale.
