Leeds Urban Village has marked its first major milestone with an Out of the Ground ceremony on site, bringing together the project team behind one of Leeds’ most significant new mixed use neighbourhoods.
Held on 19 May 2026, the event was hosted by Domis Construction and Cole Waterhouse and attended by stakeholders spanning the full delivery team, including Matic Building Services, DLG Architects, Wright Landscapes, Casana Interiors, NOVO and other key partners.

Although often described as a ground breaking moment, Leeds Urban Village is already clearly progressing above ground, with slipform cores rising and early blocks advancing at pace.
Leeds Urban Village is a landmark regeneration scheme for Leeds
Located to the east of Marsh Lane, Leeds Urban Village is transforming a 3.8 acre brownfield site into a connected new neighbourhood just outside Leeds city centre.

Across the full masterplan, the development will deliver 1,012 new homes arranged across five residential blocks, alongside a 1.13 acre public park and 18,000 sq ft of street level commercial and amenity space. The ground floor offer is designed to activate the streetscape with cafés, retail, co working and resident amenities, supporting a community led destination as Leeds continues to grow eastward.
Matic Building Services has been on Leeds Urban Village from the beginning
Matic is supporting Leeds Urban Village from the ground up, with early site services now established to enable safe, efficient construction activity and unlock the next phases of delivery.
Works include enabling power and water, installation of multiple main distribution units, extensive SWA cabling, and temporary and perimeter floodlighting to create a robust operational backbone for welfare, security, access and key site areas.

Matic was appointed by Domis and Cole Waterhouse to deliver the full Mechanical and Electrical package for the development. Mechanical works include above ground drainage, cold water services, apartment and plant ventilation systems, full apartment plumbing, thermal insulation, BMS installation, and complete testing, commissioning and handover documentation. Electrical works include low voltage power distribution, sub mains cabling, containment systems, communal lighting, small power installations, and external and street lighting, delivering a fully integrated building services solution.
